Seven Things

CK over at Divine Purpose tagged me with this meme. I’m supposed to tell you seven things you don’t need to know about me. Here goes:

1. I’ve been wearing the same pair of socks for a couple weeks now. They’re wool, and wool doesn’t smell bad even when it’s dirty

2. I own one pair of boots and one pair of shoes. One of my shoes is missing. I live in a van, how many places could it be? I refuse to buy a new pair of shoes.

3. Katie has a Woodie Guthrie song book and I was insanely excited to find the chords for “This Land Is My Land.” I’ve been playing it all the time ever since.

4. It’s been almost two months since I’ve worked. Guess how long it’s been since I shaved? 😉

5. I probably should work soon. I’m getting low on cash. It just seems like such a shitty part of the country to work in, the clubs take a percentage of your dance money AND they want a stage fee. I wish I could teleport myself to someplace more profitable and then come back.

6. Last night I watched a nursing video about how to draw blod six times in a row, and then I started poking needles in myself. I think it’s important to know these things.

7. I read a book for my sisters college history class and got all excited about it and wanted to write essays connecting the Chinese Revolution and assholes in strip clubs, and PTSD as a personal and national phenomena, but I figured that might be too obscure for a blog called Hobo Stripper.

Okay, now I get to tag seven someones. Rosie, Val, Katie, Davka, Darcy, Susie Bright, and Urban Van Dweller (since he’s so mysterious).

  1. My opinion about what you post here: it’s your blog; post what you like. Other than that, there are plenty of places on the internet to post essays or any other writing. I’d like to read whatever you write, no matter where you post it.

    PS: are you studying nursing?

  2. Why you need to know how to draw your own blood?

I can’t believe how easy it is to lose things in the truck compared to a house, I imagine it’s even easier in a van lol.

  3. My family and I were just talking this week about the connections between transgenerational ptsd in Germans, alcoholism in Indians, lactose intolerance, the use of hormones in dairy cattle, autism, and the relationship of genetics to race. Yes, that was all one related conversation.

If you are still doing research into your readership, I’m a regular reader, and I have a large tolerance for obscurity. 😉

  4. DeAnna, that sounds like a great conversation.

Calvin, no, I’m not. I study medicine as self defense.

Kate, I certainly don’t want anyone else sticking needles in me (unless it’s someone I know and love and trust), so I guess I’d better learn to do it myself in case I or someone I love ever needs an IV shot or blood drawn. Oh, and also so that if I ever find a place I can send my blood to for a thyroid panel, I can get it out to send to them.

  5. Drawing your own blood? That is something I didn’t need to know. This reminds me of my sister. She worked for a plumber and switched out a toilet the first week. She went to work for a dentist and she was pulling teeth the first week. She even thought about phlebotomy…But I talked her out of it. Thanks for playing! ck

  6. Was just thinking about the value of knowing how to poke yourself with needles, and it occurred to me that “tracks” might qualify as “probable cause” when dealing with coppers who think living in a van = drug-addicted prostitute. No doubt you had already thought of this, but I thought it was worth mentioning that if you do have contraband of any kind in the van, or simply prefer not to have cops all up in your personal stuff, you might want to keep evidence of needle practice on the down-low.

  7. Wow, Tara, drawing blood. And your own too! I have a huge needle-phobia, I could never do that, not in a million years. You are one brave, crazy girl.

I can relate to the shaving one. It’s been 1 1/2 months since I last went on a date, guess how long it’s been since I last shaved? Heh 😉 🙂

Anyway, cool post. Now I’m gonna catch up on the next ones. I hope you had a good Easter!

  8. Thanks for tagging me for this. I think I may be able to get ito it this weekend. I’ve been enjoying a slacker blogging week. I haven’t shaved in–like–years. But I’m very sparsely furred. Sometimes I wish I had more fur.

  9. hi! i found you via my friend rosie over at smokey mt. breakdown….yay. i’m gonna tackle this meme too.
i’m an old whore turned grubby crip farmer….i’m glad you are blogging.
