Aaaand…

…the laptop blew up again. Gateway says they tried to fix the power supply rather than replacing it, and now they want to do the whole box mailing thing again and they’ll replace it. I don’t want to do the whole thing again, I want them to pay for it to be fixed here. Their corporate office won’t be open till Monday. I’ll call them then.

  1. sorry about your laptop troubles….that’ll be my next project 🙁

BUT i just got back from flipping my seat around in the rondyvan 😀 you rock, tara! i’m going out to play around with it now….gotta find a new place for the kitchen cupboards. will post pics at vandwellers when i get a chance. thanks!

  2. I’m still arguing with them, Darcy. I’m pretty sure it needs to be soldered (how do you spell that?) tho. The cough was bad for a minute but it’s better now.

Kate, your van was my inspiration when I was setting up my van. I’ve always wondered tho… are you really short? How do you sleep crossways?
Bro rides in the front seat, unless I’m cooking or he’s going stir crazy and barking at everything out the window, and then he has to either ride in the bed or his crate.

  3. no, i’m 5’4″. the top of the bed just reaches the spot where the window sills are, if that makes sense. so i can pretty much stretch out full length, although i often end up kitty-cornerd anyhow. the bed is 38″ wide (the width of a twin bed) which i wanted so i could put mutt in the sleeping bag with me on the really cold nights, or when he is wet. i also like the big “living room” effect in the middle there. but now with the seat reversed, i might go back to my older set-up, with my 30″ wide roll-a-cot running lengthwise down behind the drivers seat. i wish it wasn’t snowing here, i’d gut the thing tomorrow and experiment….will keep you posted. also hope you get the laptop shit settled so we can see pics…i’m curious how the reversal affects your set-up.

    am i talking to much?

  4. Tara, out of curiousity, do you tell them that the laptop lives in a van? I’ve been wondering the impact on my laptop of running off 12V and the internal battery so much. The software does some strange things sometimes when it starts up, and I haven’t decided if I should tell tech support about the powering as it’s still under warranty.
